South Poll of the Phoenix! (That… actually sounds kinda wrong…)

Hey guys! Aust here!

So – while the D3P0 section didn’t get lynched – Dan kinda lynched D3P0 – so grah. NOT what I’m here to talk about though.

I’m here because, if people still check the SPOTM blog – we’re in a bit of a rejuvination. Local troll and resident asshole Asher, AKA bombmaniac – in the wake of getting IP-banned, managed to not only hack the admin account, but post as Dan and kick-start a rejuvination project. After a bit of a fumble and Zang getting demoted, the project is underway.

A new sub-section was made in Projects – Go check it out!

Also – since the rejuvination and the (promised) return of Dan will likely get us more active members and traffic – the management decided to hire new mods, and admins. Right now we are modless and the (active) Admin staff consist of Rob, Erin, Jean (aka UnfairBear – newly promoted), OtherRob (aka newschooled – also newly promoted), and RadicallyBlue (sorta newly promoted – he’s the new Webmaster).

Now, since we no longer have moderators, the management is currently holding moderator elections. That can be found here.

I’m not petty – so I’m not going to promote myself here – it’d be slightly unfair since I’m the only candidate with access to this blog’s dashboard. I will, however say this: You should vote for Asher.

In fact – Asher shouldn’t be on that list – he should already be a moderator. This who rejuvination and second life is thanks to Asher, and there probably isn’t anybody who cares about the moon more then him at this point.

Also – There’s been talk about renewing Triads – I joined the moon after they pretty much died – so I’m totally confused about them, and staying out of it until it sorts itself out.

Also, also – project plugging time!

And that’s all I’ve got for now – have a nice day.

Let’s talk

Alright PogoTribe – I’ve had the chance to actually think this through without the influence of painkillers.

Aust has some things to say.

Now, as is generally accepted, the Moon has died, risen, and is now lurching around very zombie-like. Christine O’Donnell has infiltrated our ranks, and is disguising herself as one of us. The Old Spice Guy is, well, he’s just there.

Dan Brown (not the author) started the forum as a part of Dan 3.0 – and as a group of people – like the Nerdfighters, but without the Vlog Brothers – doing projects to decrease worldsuck. A noble cause, sure, but at the same time, it seems, to me anyways, to be a Ning wannabe.

Dan has abandoned us – he may come back at the end of D3P0, but as it stands, he’s not a part of us anymore.
And he’s taken most of the forum with him.

All that’s left is us: The PogoTribe – the people who joined, for the most part, thanks to Dan’s influence – but who remained in the wake of the exodus of people leaving.

Just a quick roll-call – the people who I know are active, and hanging around all over the place:

  • Aust (obviously)
  • Alex (sorry!)
  • Rob
  • Eirn
  • Zang
  • Imposter Rob (newschooled)
  • Jean
  • Jackson
  • Swim
  • Flappy
  • Ryan
  • Imposter Ryan (aka ryan – change your display name and avatar man)
  • Sara
  • Nancy
  • Freddy

and MAYBE Lex, James, and Bombmaniac

But there it is – the 14 of us are the most active members, it’s less a forum, and more a club. A very awesome club, but a club none-the-less. This isn’t to say that we aren’t the only actives – but we’re the ones that are in every section, contributing to pretty much every discussion.

We are The PogoTribe – and we are not a group comprised of Dan Brown’s fans and viewers. We are our own.

So, here’s my question – do we Keep Strong and Carry On waiting for Dan? Or do we take the Moon, and make it our own, and give up on Dan?

And if we make it our own, how do we go about it?

Either way – I say, as I have before, and will continue to say until it happens.

Lynch the Dan 3.0 section!

Aust Kyzor’s Happy Fun Game Plug!

Hey World!

I’ve decided that I want to make use of the blog to let the pogotribe know of some fun games that people should play and enjoy.

So, let’s start off with simple – a pipe-dream-esque puzzle game!

I present: Liquid Measure 2 (because LM 1 sucks and shouldn’t be played)

Game play is simple: you’re given a value of water in whatever unit, and you have to get units of water from the dispensers into the jars – each jar has a number which corresponds to how many units of water will fit in the jar. On each level there are a number of mobile and immobile objects to manipulate in order to get all the water stored without spilling a drop.

Normally this is where I’d issue a challenge, or whatever – but it’s not a high-score based game. So, instead – I leave it there for you. If you want a challenge, well, Kongregate has achievements for it – so have fun there.

I think, in order to keep me writing, I’ll do these on a weekly basis – not just online flash games either – we’ll have stuff that requires installation too.

Until then, Aust Kyzor OUT!

Oh – and Blood Drive

Blood! Blood! Gallons of the stuff!

Hey Moon! Aüst here. Yes, that’s how it’s supposed to be spelled.

Today I’m here to talk to you about blood.

Did you know that a single donated unit of blood can save up to three people? You do now!

I started a project – it’s still in the planning stages at the moment – but it’ll soon take off. What began as a month-long blood drive has become a year-long blood drive (if it all works out). The way it works is thus: if you can donate, then donate. Try to start as close as you can to January 1st, and every 56 days, donate a unit of blood. If you want, leave a greeting from SPOTM at the clinic – but it’s not necessary. Every time you donate, there will be a Google docs form to record the donations, and December 31st, 2011, I will compile the results, and will share them with the moon for display at your nearest permanent blood clinic. The results will show how many people donated, how many units of blood were collected, and how many lives were potentially saved.

SO! Do your research. Are you allowed and able to donate? If so, you should participate in this!

And… much as I dislike this – if you absolutely MUST have recognition, I’ll go about making an award for participating, or something.

This is a pretty ambitious project – but it’ll be worth the decreased World-Suck in the end.

The project thread is here

Aüst Kyzor, OUT!
